great Running hard and going nowhere 13.01 mi 01:32 07:04 pace

Had meetings all day long at work and couldn't get out to do my intervals so I decided to hit the mill for a lovely planned 12 miles with 6 x 1k and 4 x 200m. Did a 1 mile warmup and then 7 x 1k @ 6:00/mi pace with 1:10 rests (decided to do one extra 1k). Ran number 3 to long and ended up with a short 40 second rest. did 4 x 200m at 5:15 to 5:00 mile pace. Wrapped up with about 5.5 miles easy ending up getting in 13 miles. Thank goodness for the intervals otherwise I would have never been able to do that many miles on the mill and stay sane. It was nice to control the pace on the intervals as it forces you to not start out to fast and control the effort. Overall it was a tough workout but felt quite a bit easier then the last time I did this 2 weeks ago at a slightly slower pace.
The hip is feeling better but is still painful in the morning but is showing improvement. I am rolling and stretching the bejeebers out of it which has noticeable results. Wasn't much of a problem when running and loosens up fairly quickly. Feels really good after the run as well. Lets see how it feels tomorrow after a hard session which is usually a good litmus test. I only have one more hard week so I am confident that things will be ok and will take a day off or two if needed.

First of all, was never sure how to spell bejeebers--but now I do.
Second, just major kudos for still figuring out a way to get this run done. Agree that the intervals help in a major way to break it up.
Great pace on those--especially the 200m. Glad the hip is cooperating for the most part. Get some rest tonight.

Holy treadmill miles! Strong work, David. Sounds like you're controlling the hip well.

@Marcie I had to google bejeebers to get the spelling.

Sounds like you are managing things well. Just need to get your head checked for running so long on a treadmill. Sheesh. I couldn't do that.

@Greg S. The intervals made the first hour go by really fast as I was focusing on each interval. The last half an hour was tough though. Having said that, I probably still need to get my head checked regardless.

Nice work David. Hope the hip continues to behave. I agree about intervals making the treadmill bearable, but I still don't like the mill.
