    good 10 mile LSD 10.01 mi 01:27 08:39 pace

First off, gorgeous afternoon for a run. A little breezy in places, and maybe a little warm for my liking, but I can't complain that much.

Secondly, goal was to average sub 9'09" m... read more

    great 5 Mile Gray's Lake Run 5 mi 00:41 08:08 pace

Wow! I feel great after this! I hadn't ran this fast in a while. Best run on this route since Aug 2011, and second fastest since Dec 2010. Did every other mile at sub-8 min pace. Splits were 7... read more

great Fort Dodge JDRF Half Marathon 13.19 mi 02:28 11:11 pace

Just helping some friends finish their first half marathon! Very proud of them for knocking one out in under 2:30! Route wasn't exactly easy either, with lots of miles on gravel/loose surfaces... read more

  4. RUN
    good 5 Mile Gray's Lake Run 5 mi 00:44 08:50 pace

Did it a little different today. 800m warmup, followed by 5x800m intervals @approx 10k goal pace (which I've tweaked back to around 7'25") with 2' recovery in between. Splits we... read more

Going for a little speed work with intervals, eh? Always hated those on the bike, but they sure do work! Get rained on much?

Those are some good intervals, Dave. I know you used to be a bit faster BUT you are just getting back into speedwork. Besides, I'll take those splits from you if you don't want them :)

  5. RUN
    alright 12 Mile LSD 12.01 mi 01:55 09:36 pace

This was a pretty brutal run. The weather is really pretty rough for March. It was hot (well running hot anyway) and windy and that made this a pretty brutal 12 mile run. Tried a new route which I ... read more

Garmin dorked this up. I don't want to talk about the rest of it :P

  7. RUN
    good 5 Mile Gray's Lake Run 5 mi 00:44 08:50 pace

It's gonna take me a bit to get used to warmer weather. Definitely played a factor tonight. My legs felt really heavy and tired throughout. The first few miles were really tight and then the l... read more

Yeah at like 9 PM! 50-55 degrees is about perfect shorts/T-shirt weather for me. Any warmer than that, and it starts to really affect me. It was like 68 out when I went out. I could really tell the difference! Upper 70s probably knocks a good 30 seconds to a minute off my pace.

Thanks guys! Yeah, well I've been back at it for a month or so. I'm a good 40 seconds/mile at this effort level off where I was when I stopped. I'm hoping to be back in reasonable half marathon shape by Dam to Dam! Gotta start doing some speedwork! I've also discovered that training for a marathon destroys your speed for shorter distances, so I'm going to work on speed this spring!

  10. I hear this is a good place to track your running, encourage, and get encouragement from others! I think I'm going to check it out.
