I injured my back yesterday doing a physical agility test for a NYS Job. I am very proud that I PASSED the test and then had to pretend like I wasn't in pain until I got to my car. SO I guess lifting a 120lb dummy for 5 seconds is a bit much. I must have lifted it wrong. I went to my chiropractor with in 3 hours of the injury. He just looked at me like what did u do now. So I am in excruciating pain and basically not mobile. This sucks. I was told to ice it for 20 mins and off for 40 and repeat for 3 hours.

So sorry Danielle, that really sucks. Hope you heal fast! But congratulations on passing the test!

I'm so sorry Danielle. As a person with a bad back myself, I know how infuriating this can be. I hope you heal quickly. Don't rest too much. The key I've heard is to change positions frequently. I'm also a fan of warm baths with epsom salts.

Gotta agree with amanda about the epsom salts.. Ice.. heat.. repeat.. maybe throw an anti-inflammatory in there someplace.. Hope you feel better soonest.

Thanks... I'm happy that I already had a bad back so I didn't need to go to a dr to get pain meds. I took ibuprofen 600mg and 4mg of Zanafex at the same time and that seems to do the trick along with Ice and rest. I am starting to feel a little better. Its not hurting as much as it did yesterday.
And the job is working in a State group home for the disabled. I had to do a 3 min step test on a 9 inch step, walk up and down

a flight of stairs, unlock and pass thru a door and then unlock the other side and come back again, drag a 160lb dummy 5 feet stop and repeat a 2nd time, then I had to lift the 120lb dummy to release tension from the rope for 5 seconds. (then I hurt my back) then I had to do CPR compression on a CPR dummy for 3 minutes.
Yes its a state job so they make u jump through hopes to get the job.
