    Oh, crap! 4 mi 00:36 08:57 pace

Safe to say this wasn't the best morning. After stumbling down the stairs barefoot I managed to step in a big pile of dog crap and then pee that Luna had left us. How sweet of her, eh? Well, t... read more

This sounds like a complete and total Monday...except it's Friday. Which totally shouldn't be this way. It should be sunshine and rainbows!

I must say I am really enjoying my recovery downtime, though it took a few days to get into the groove. I may work out tomorrow...or not.

It all sucks, but the event!!! Training sucks, tapering sucks, recovery sucks!!! :) BUT the moment is worth all of the sucky parts.

First hilly run back 5 mi 00:45 09:00 pace

First run since the half iron Saturday. Surprisingly, my legs felt great, although the right hammy is a little sore. I was a bit slower but overall, no problems, not even on the big hill at the end... read more

    Recovery 1600 m 00:40 40:14 pace

Decided to try an easy recovery swim to see how the body felt. Diaphram didn't feel too great at first but calmed down as long as I kept it nice and easy. Felt good to get back in the water.

Walk with Luna 3 mi 00:45 15:00 pace

Luna needed a walk and so did I after having pizza and beer for dinner. Need to start working out again soon. Tried to do some core stuff but my sore diaphragm wasn't very agreeable.

HOLY CRAP! I literally got wide-eyed when I saw your run time. That's faster than my Half PR ... and I only ran mine! :-) Anyway, you already know how completely freaking amazing I think you are. I loved reading this. Got a little teary at the end! It's been my absolute privilege to be your DM friend since pretty much when I first joined 3.5 years ago. I've watched you endure so many lows and crush so many highs, it's just so rewarding. SO SO SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amy, I thought I was, too, or at least close to it. I forgot to hit "lap" on my garmin after the swim so while it recorded total distance, it didn't give me splits or an average, so I had no idea how fast or slow I was going on the run during it. Also, my time includes the extra I did. The "official" time is 9:05 pace. :)

Nice ride! I don't even run by high schools when students are coming / going anymore. I had a close call with someone more interested in a text than the road and that was enough for me.
