    Maintenance 1650 m 00:40 39:00 pace

I hate to admit this but am actually a bit sore from yesterday's race. So I hit the pool today. 500 meter warmup, 500 meters medium, 250 meters kick drills, 6 50 meter sprints. 100 cool down.

  2. RUN
    Best Dam Run 10k 6.27 mi 00:45 07:09 pace

Almost bagged out on this race bc of feeling pretty icky but made a commitment so wanted to keep it. I haven't run a 10k when it is not part of a triathlon in 4.5 years. Managed to squeak out ... read more

  3. RUN
    Trails 5 mi 00:45 09:00 pace

Have had a really rough week and what looks to be more ahead. Even though my sleep was crap and I have a race tomorrow, I had to get out on the trails today to clear my head.

Hopefully these trails helped to clear up your head a bit, Danielle. Just know how wonderful we all think and know you are, and keep your head up. You'll get through this.

Felt good to do this, been a long time!

Getting out some frustration 17 mi 01:00 17.0mph pace

Kept up a pretty decent pace for this garage spin. The pouring rain and wind did not make outdoor cycling appealing. After a night of tossing and turning I overslept but still had enough time to sq... read more

  6. swim
    Lunchtime snail laps 00:35

Well, that was far less eventful than my run this morning, thankfully. Apparently, all my swim fitness has disappeared in the one week I haven't been in the pool. Yikes. Did a progressive warm... read more

  7. RUN
Tweaker in the road 5 mi 00:44 08:48 pace

This wasn't your average morning stroll. The knee was hurting so I was taking it really slow on the hilly run today when this dude (who looked as high as a kite) starts gesturing wildly at me ... read more

  8. So, I am considering doing Ironman Canada b/c it is close enough for me to drive to, in late summer and eliminates a lot of travel logistics. However, I hear the course has quite a bit of elevation... read more

Is it the same as Challenge Penticton?

I've only done the Penticton course, but people have said that Whistler and Penticton are very similar. I think as long as you practice a lot of open water swims, you'll be fine. The elevation gain and serious mountain passes are no joke, but that's Ironman. It's supposed to be hard. You could also consider doing Challenge Penticton, which is exactly the same as the former Ironman course, just run by the European version of Ironman (Challenge). You can't go wrong with either one!

Thanks. I definitely want it to be hard, as weird as that sounds. A flat course sounds great but not as challenging, plus they tend to make my knees ache (weird, I know). Plus, there is the added benefit of simplying logistics and cost and not paying for plane fare, plus bike transport, etc.

Slow hilly spin 20 mi 01:30 13.3mph pace

I intended to do two hours but someone stayed way too late last night listening to live music and letting my hair down a bit. So ended up sleeping in a little longer than intended. Whoops! First ti... read more

First hilly run back 5 mi 00:45 09:00 pace

HOLY CRAP! I literally got wide-eyed when I saw your run time. That's faster than my Half PR ... and I only ran mine! :-) Anyway, you already know how completely freaking amazing I think you are. I loved reading this. Got a little teary at the end! It's been my absolute privilege to be your DM friend since pretty much when I first joined 3.5 years ago. I've watched you endure so many lows and crush so many highs, it's just so rewarding. SO SO SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
