I'm not sure on the actual time because we stopped several times to regroup, but it was a great ride! This was my first group ride and it was a cool experience. I started out pretty hesitant to get tight in the group, but I got used to it as we went along. I was completely embarassed when I derailed right in front of the guys from the local bike shop. Martin jumped off and got me rolling again faster than I could have done it myself. (thanks...blush) We did the ride up Ramsey Canyon. I am still not a huge fan of long climbs but I did okay. I wasn't last...maybe close to the back of the middle. However, I did push hard on the way down and got some serious speed....keeping up with the fast guys....what a rush!
I learned that hitting lots of bugs feels like needles on my arms...and creepy when they hit my ears. I also saw a HUGE tarantula just hanging out waving at us as I nearly rolled over it....
I also pushed hard on the road on the way back, trying to keep up with the faster cyclists. I wasn't doing too bad. Now to work on stamina on the hills! I'm looking forward to next week! I'll join the crowd at Chipotle and do a few extra miles....
