They're not really boring because you're either concentrating on maintaining a hard pace without blowing up, or you're savoring the recovery lap. The track would be boring for a recovery day. Plus, these sessions do seem to be making me faster - I'm willing to run in circles if it means I'll beat one or two more people at my next race.
