Still pretty good. I'm so far behind in my fitness it's not even funny. I'm thinking it's going to take till near the end of the year till I start even approaching my former fitness. Probably longer. Oh well. Slowly but surely...

Thanks for the emails, Dan. It was a big deal to get them. We were like soldiers in foxholes, hoping for any word from back home. I'm out of the desert. WHAT an experience. Nothing compares (marathon, etc.)--or hurts as much. I sincerely hope I don't have the desert stage-race bug, but I feel this niggling desire to see what else is out there...

Anyhow, again, thank you for thinking of me. It meant a lot.

I hope you'll do a full race report - I'd like to hear all the gory details. I was following your progress and was excited/impressed/amazed each time I saw that you finished a stage. Congrats on this epic achievement!

    Nice and sunny out.

  5. RUN
alright Mt Tam the Easy Way w/Hugh 17.09 km 02:30 14:04 pace

Leisurely crosshill/downhill tour of Tam's north side w/ Hugh. This should have been easy but I'm beat.

Yeah brutal... we DROVE to the East Peak, then meandered down the mountain. :D It was only difficult in the sense that I ran out of steam because my endurance sucks -- I tend to be out of energy after 2 hrs no matter what the pace.

  6. RUN
alright Mill Valley Path 10.3 km 00:50 07:53 pace

Still sore from Sunday :/ but needed to get some miles in. Wasn't bad.

  7. RUN
tired Mt Tam w/Andrew, the hard way up 20.18 km 02:42 12:54 pace

This was an ambitious course for me considering how little I've been running, but I made it. I just can't walk now.

  8. RUN
alright Coyote Ridge 9.45 km 01:00 10:10 pace

Good to get back out on the trails.

  9. RUN
    alright 5.01 km 00:22 06:57 pace

Was planning on 10K but 5K was enough to wear me out.

  11. RUN
good MV Path 5K Tempo 5.01 km 00:21 06:50 pace

Gettin' better. A little faster than Friday and my knee didn't bother me. Just felt a little stronger too.

  12. RUN
injured Cool Down 0.57 km 00:03:33 10:01 pace

    Back to the car.

  13. RUN
tired Mill Valley Path 5K Tempo 5 km 00:21 06:53 pace

Gotta get this back down to 20 min, but this went fairly well considering what little I've run in the last few months.

  14. RUN
injured Warm Up 0.76 km 00:04:25 09:24 pace

Felt the knee pain right off the bat - oh well.

  15. RUN
tired Spring Lake 7.8 km 00:38 07:48 pace

Sorry to hear that. Knee injuries can be tricky. Hills are not good for them, unfortunately.

Miraculously, I woke up this morning and my knee doesn't hurt anymore. Go figure. It did get a massage yesterday. We'll see if it holds up to another long run. I should probably try a short one first.

Today's excuses: no energy, no speed in legs, injured knee. Oh well, I completed the distance at least. Last 5K was a sufferfest.

On my last long run (Tue). It was a group trail run up Mt. Tam. I think the injury was caused by running on the canted edge of the trail to allow room for others to run next to me. The odd loading on the knee + 16 rough trail miles messed it up.
