  1. RUN
    Waltham - Auburndale 4.43 mi 00:35 07:56 pace

The right hamstring is starting to get really annoying. It's getting tough to open up on the flats when it begins cramping up. I've tried altering my footfall, coasting down the declines and runnin... read more

It must be something going around, that the hammy that's bothering me too. That's still an awesome pace Dan.

Have you tried yoga? I sound ridiculous but yoga fixes any ailment, as far as I can tell. Get a DVD or check on netflix and give it a whirl!

  2. RUN
Burlington Town Hall to Corbe... 3.16 mi 00:25 07:52 pace

First half mile saved me, because I started cramping up in the middle. Pushed through it, though and that's what counts. Didn't do well pushing up the hill in the middle and I have to work harder o... read more

  3. RUN
    Waltham - Newton 3.22 mi 00:26 07:58 pace

Not as good on the flats as I would have liked. There was some traffic and it slowed me a bit...taking away the delays at the lights I probably was almost a minute faster. Great conditions (tempera... read more

  4. #dailymission It depends on the length of the race and the amount of preparation time involved. For relays and any really long races I prepare 4-6 months in advance, for the local 5Ks I might decid... read more

  5. RUN
    Waltham - Auburndale 4.4 mi 00:35 07:57 pace

Slowed it up in the last half mile but overall not bad. Left knee a bit sore and I hope it will feel better by Wednesday.

Fingers, toes & eyes crossed for ya that your knee is better by Wednesday. Super 4.4 even with your knee being sore. Heal quick!

  6. #dailymission A cold will set me back for a minimum of two weeks, no matter how minor it is. Gotta watch the lungs. I'm looking for no colds this year!

  7. RUN
    Upper East - NH 3.37 mi 00:27 07:54 pace

Nice day and not a lot of traffic. Good work on the hills and nice conditions where it's usually impassable this time of year.

  8. RUN
    Waltham - Newton 3.8 mi 00:30 07:56 pace

Very nice work on the third mile (ok, it was flat and I had no headwind). A bit dark and the first mile was kind of choppy but overall it felt good.

  9. RUN
    Waltham - Newton 3.2 mi 00:25 07:56 pace

Really good on the declines and on the last (short, but steep) hill. A little tough on the inclines but I was watching the pavement in order to avoid falling. Not bad.

  10. RUN
Burlington Town Hall to Colon... 4.3 mi 00:34 07:53 pace

Good on the downhills, tough coming back up the Center St. hill (headwinds).

  11. #dailymission As a runner I go through at least 6 boxes of bandages a year. What can I say? I fall a lot.

  12. RUN
    Waltham - Newton 4.3 mi 00:34 07:56 pace

A little tough going up the first hill because I couldn't catch my breath right. After that I was OK, though.

      Good job Dan.

Have you run the blue heron trail along the charles? Is that where you ran today? I ran from Watertown Sq to Waltham (Moody) last week and it was a gorgeous section of paved trail, well marked (on the ground, which is useless in snow, but I had a description). one is supposed to be able to continue along the river all the way to the Newton Marriot.

  13. #dailymission Best part. The race. Worst: After I've crossed the finish line and realized it's over.

  14. RUN
Burlington Town Hall to Corbe... 3.17 mi 00:25 07:56 pace

Tough one with the slick road. OK on the two steep hills, though.

  15. #dailymission For relays I wake up as late as possible (usually 3 a.m.), and have coffee and a muffin. The night before I line everything up in the order that it will come out of the van. Makes for... read more

  16. #dailymission Back in 2006 I took first in my age group at a local 5K and won $100. Beautiful day, excellent conditions, prize money and a trophy afterward...not a bad way to spend a Saturday morning.

  17. RUN
Burlington Town Hall to Mount... 3.2 mi 00:25 07:55 pace

The hill was a bit troublesome but I handled the last part OK. Stronger headwinds than I expected, but this was just an amazingly beautiful day for January.

Isn't it great to be out running in these unusually awesome temps! The winds are brutal to run in but hey, we can't have everything. Sensationally paced 3.2 miles Dan!

  18. RUN
    Upper East - NH 3.13 mi 00:25 07:58 pace

Good work at the beginning and not bad on the hills, except for the end when the blister on my right foot started bothering me.

      Teri G.

Superior paced 3.13 on those hills Dan! I sure hope that blister heals up for ya soon!

  19. #dailymission The Cape Relay (now being operated by Ragnar) - it'll be my third year, and, hopefully Reach the Beach, again.

  20. RUN
    Waltham - Downtown 3.1 mi 00:25 07:54 pace

A bit chilly but that gave me an incentive to move faster. Did OK in the first half-mile, had to watch it through the middle due to ice.
