I was looking forward to this morning's run with the same youthful exuberance that I once anticipated Saturday morning cartoons. I hopped out of bed as soon as I awoke, threw on my running gear, filled a couple of small water battles, holstered them to my belt, and got my run on.
I was planning on running 13mi. But I always get crazy ideas somewhere between miles 4 and 5. Today's idea was that I should plan my run so that I end my 13 mi at McDonald's in Kaysville just in time for breakfast, and Kalani could meet me there and I could ride with her the remaining 4 mi back home. But when I called Kalani at mile 13, she was 30 miles away heading in the opposite direction. Doh! So much for breakfast. Double doh, I've never run 17 miles!
I'd finished the first 13 in good time. Just a couple minutes over my 2hr target. The next couple of miles were slower, but I was okay. But just after mi 15, I hit a wall. I guess my body is not quite ready for 17 yet. For the first time I can remember, I was just ready to be DONE with a run. Welcome to Bonktown. I walked the last half mile up into neighborhood.
