Ahhh, it's all coming back to me now...what I hate about marathon training. Hard-ass workouts like this one! Road intervals: 8x7:00 in zone 4-5 with 2:00 recovery.

Just like during a race, I started out too fast, turning the first interval in 6:41 (6:55 would've been a good pace.) By the 5:30 mark of the 3rd interval, I was trying to decide if I would stop at 6 or 5 repeats, 'cuz there was no way I was going to last for 8. As I finished the 5th one, I decided 7 would definitely be enough.

Of course, I did all 8. You CAN'T stop just one stinkin' interval short of the mission!

My splits were pretty erratic. I'm only reporting them here because when I don't, Sarah C. yells at me and, frankly, she scares the bejeezus out of me.

On a positive note, I made a decision about the new shoes I've been wearing the last 3.5 weeks: they're going back. I'd have to rate them in the top 3 most uncomfortable running shoes I've had in my life. (And I've been running a l-o-n-g time.) Some people love 'em, and if you're one of those people, I'm glad they work for you. For me, they don't. That's okay. I gave 'em a fair shot: 68 miles in 3.5 weeks. Now I know and I can move on.

    That was a tough workout - way to get it done even when your head is telling you you can't! Sorry to hear about the shoes - looks like your back to being a Newton guy...which is fine by me ;)
