Lisa S. and Carolyn B. - thanks for the encouraging words. I could not believe it took so long for me to get over what I thought originally to be a minor injury. I will listen to my body better in the future and try not to be so stubborn.

I've been pretty diligent about doing those form drills Lane showed me a couple of weeks ago after every run. They are really good and seem to keep me from getting as sore between runs! I am amazed at how much better I feel. You might also try some online yoga sessions to target that IT band and hamstring area. I like the http://www.doyogawithme.com/yoga_classes. You can search a couple of different ways (type, time, teacher...). All the ones I've tried have been good.

Great job of being smart. I struggled a couple of years ago with chronic IT band problems. You are doing the right thing! What I found to be most helpful was swimming (in addition to the standard recommended IT band stretches and strength training). I know it is really hard not being able to run what you want to run, but you'll be back at it in no time!

Time off from running sounds like it is what you NEED but not what you WANT! It's so hard but will be worthwhile in the long run.
