What was supposed to be a 5-mile tempo run turned into a "dear God I hope I don't die" 4 miler. I learned two things today. One, 6 p.m. in south Louisiana in August is way too goddamn hot to run. Actually i already knew that, but I was reminded of it today. Two, is that 28 days in-between training runs is way too damn many. As soon as i took off, my quads were asking me in the meanest way possible to knock it the fuck off. Naturally, I showed my ass and kept going, against my better judgement and all good sense. It hurt, which is what I get for taking my fitness and run level for granted, but as I sit here on my couch wishing I had stopped on my way home and picked up a 40 pound bag of ice, I find that, yes, it still hurts... but I kind of like it.

Sounds like it is the good type of pain, good job:)

It's hot and it doesn't take no where near the time to lose the fitness that took so long to get. The heat index today at 6 when I ran said it was 109

Perhaps ease into it and build your miles back up gently. You don't need an injury.

Lawd, that's a tough run that I wouldn't have even attempted. Good job getting it done, Cory.
