injured Maverick Race - Hampshire The New Forest 15.6 mi 03:05 11:51 pace

The day before it rained buckets converting the New Forest into a swamp. Tiny puddles became streams - small rivers became lakes and the mud throughout most of the race was knee deep. On race morning the sun came out so I decided to make a go of it and stick to the longest distance even though most dialed down to the M distance. I lost my shoes 23 times - not joking. I had to cross a raging river that was hip deep two times not to mention freezing cold. My foot started hurting about half way through but there really was no backing out - no fuel stations and no cell service so I had to continue. I ran the entire race after mile 4 alone. Around mile 9 some kids had torn off the arrows on the trail and I got lost. Once I figured it out, I kept going and ended up running 1 more than I needed too. Mile 14 it started hailing on me and finished with a walking limp, tears and a very swollen foot.
When my shoe was coming off my foot, you squish your toes down to keep it on and that happened for 3.15 hours so thats why my foot hurts (as those joints are fused). Still swollen the morning post race so just going to stay off it Sunday - ice and see how I feel Monday.
