Have you ruptured a disk? I had that happen about 12 years ago -- pretty sure it was L4 -- and it was a miserable ~8 months getting over it. I didn't have to have surgery, but I limped for a long time!

I hope you're able to figure out what's causing the pain and get it sorted out very soon. My trainer makes sure to have hip flexibility/strength exercises in every workout (along with piriformis and IT band foam-rolling) to try to prevent problems.

Sorry been MIA- got the results on Friday and then went to the beach for a few days :) Good news is no stress fracture!!! VERY good news :) PT to try to figure out if it's the SI joint, back in 3 weeks. Frustrating thing is I haven't run or worked out in over a week and the pain isn't any better. Hopefully PT will help. But am relieved about the elimination of the stress fracture!

Karyl-Lynne- you think? I really need to see a doctor about it. It's been nagging for about a year now, but significant for a few months. I think I have to face reality that it's not going to get better on it's own.

I ruptured a disc in my back a few years ago, and the main thing I remember is that the worst pain felt like it was really deep in my hip. I'm convinced that my chiro helped keep me out of surgery, and have no lasting problems now. You definitely should have it checked out just in case.
