  1. RUN
    good 3.25 mi

This was my first solid run in months. Wasn't easy, but it felt good. Then I got in the pool and did 1100 yards there.

  2. RUN
    good 2 mi

OK, so it was really more of a run/walk, but more running than walking. After being pretty darned sedentary for the last week, it felt good to move.

  3. FIT
    good 8 mi

Once again, guessing at the spin "miles." We did about an hour, including 44 minutes of climbing. Then, for good measure, we did some planks and pushups before heading out to the track ... read more

  4. swim
    good 3100 yd

I think that was about the yardage this morning. New drill today was broken 50s. You start and end in the middle of the pool.

  5. RUN
    good 2.75 mi

No knee pain today -- first time since my half. Then we did 1100 yards in the pool.

  6. FIT
    good 10 mi

Guessing on spin distance, but it was good hard climbing and accelerations today. Then 1.25 miles on the track.

  7. swim
    good 3800 yd

350 warm up, 300 in 25s (on the :30, :30, :20), 400 kicking free and fly, 6x200 pull, 400 zombie drill (with easy 50s in between each hundred so that I would only look like I was drowning, not actu... read more

  8. walk
    good 3 mi

My boys and I did the Walk to End Alzheimer's this morning, along with a couple thousand of our closest friends.

  9. swim
    good 3700 yd

    First long swim in a couple of weeks or so. 450 warm up, 300 in 25s (on :30, :30, :20, x 4), 400 kick with snorkel, 2 x 500, 4 x 200, 2 x 300, 3 x 50. I think that's what I did. Felt good.

  10. RUN
    2.75 mi

Intervals on the track, then 1300 yards in the pool.

  11. FIT
    8 mi

Guessing on spin distance, then 1.25 miles on the track.

  12. RUN
    good 13.1 mi 02:40 12:12 pace

Started off strong but lost steam along the way. But then, when I saw the guy getting CPR at mile 12, I decided I should be thankful that I'm able to finish, at any speed.

According to today's newspaper, a nurse from Stanford was the first to give CPR to the fallen runner (they weren't sure if she was a runner or spectator), then the paramedics (staged along the route) took over. He was talking by the time they loaded him in the ambulance.

  13. RUN
    great 2.5 mi

Good exercise day today. After our one mile warm up run, we did 800s. I'm slow, so I was going to be happy with anything under 5:00. In order, I did 4:54, 4:31, 4:15. Still slower than any... read more

  14. FIT
    alright 8 mi

Guessing on spin distance. Then 1.25 miles on the track.

  15. RUN
    alright 8 mi

Good thing this was my taper weekend. We had a fire drill on Friday and my calves are still complaining about the stairs. I'm glad I didn't have to do 13 miles today. One week to race ... read more

I'm embarrassed to say it really wasn't that many stairs. I guess, since my upcoming half is REALLY flat, I haven't done any stair or hill work lately.

Track work, then 950 yards in the pool.

  17. RUN
    2.25 mi

Running out at the track after about 45 minutes of spinning.

  18. RUN
    good 11.3 mi

MUCH better run than last week. Still slow as molasses in winter, but I felt so much better. 15 days to race day. Bring on the race day adrenaline!

  19. RUN
    2.5 mi

Warm up, timed mile, then a couple of 400 repeats. Then got in the pool for 1400 yards.
