Sweet lower humidity! Temps felt awesome this morning when I started this run, so I'll go ahead & put the blame there for the reason I didn't follow my plan exactly. Plan was 12 mile @ MP with every other mile 10-20 sec. faster. My "dream" MP would be 8:45 so I went with that. Plan was to meet Deb M. , Jamison at the bike trail in Alex. My husband decided he would go also. We got there & Carrie & her husband were there...so we had a nice little group. Carrie kinda took the reins & decided to help me pace. Problem is we never hit my MP...the entire run. Everything just felt too good & I had some really good music going!! Next time I do this run, I will do by myself & try to be more disciplined because I do not want to injure myself. We did alternate the miles by going fast one mile & slowing down to what I thought was MP the other mile. So, in that respect, I followed the plan. By mile 10 though I really felt like seeing how fast I could run 12 in...so we really picked up the pace. Splits: 8:40, 8:36, 8:28, 8:37 (this is me TRYING to hit 8:45 ha!), 8:18, 8:36, 8:19, 8:29, 8:00, 8:27 (last attempt at 8:45)...ah forget it...7:50, 7:14! Got some great advice from Carrie's husband John on my training, so I'll call this run a success.

Nice run, tough to take it easy in good company. Really strong finish, glad the hamstrings are cooperating well enough to allow this.

I'm thinking you might need to lower your marathon pace to 8:30...just sayin'! :) Great job! And, I'm taking note of those splits for the next time we do speed work. (insert evil laugh)
