Glass City Marathon 26.2 mi 03:58 09:05 pace

Dont have official results yet, but pretty sure this is dead on. Great course...although too many twists & turns for me. More flat 1st half than 2nd....but maybe I just noticed it more on dead legs. My quads started to ache around mile 9. I was worried about my hamstring, but the quads dealth the death blow on this one. By mile 13 I so wanted to be done. I'm happy that I managed to push through & I never stopped once, although I really wanted to. I started questioning why I run marathons towards mile 19 because I was not enjoying it one bit. Probably because my last 2 marathons I had no expectations & ran for enjoyment. I wanted to maintain a 9:00 pace for first half & then slowly increase. I did manage to get my overall pace to an 8:57 ...but totally lost it in the end. As I saw my pace creep to 9:01 I knew I wouldn't BQ. I missed that by 3 minutes. I can't be too upset though, since I did run Boston once. I may just have to be happy with that. My last mile was my slowest....felt like I was crawling...9:30 pace. Cool ending though...we finished inside the stadium & got to hear our names announced. This is a PR for me, so if Boston hadn't changed their standards...I would've made it again. Couple highlights: had to pee really bad so was happy we ran on a bike trail! Lost 1 minute jumping in the woods! My husband signed up for the 5k at last minute & did really well. Was able to hook up with Patty & Lorie at the end. Patty missed her BQ by 50 sec....When I came home I couldn't bend over to take my shoes off! Husband obliged. My left foot was very bloody...I knew something didn't feel good! Slept for an hour & I've tried to eat, but stomach is saying "no". Oh yeah...I forgot my MUSIC! What the heck was I thinking?! Only myself & negatives thoughts to pull me through! So happy to that everyone had good races this weekend! Yay for DM'rs!

Nice job on the PR Cindy, plus I know you haven't been 100% of late with the hamstring concerns. Tough to run a good marathon at anything less than 100%, but you managed an outstanding one.

Great job, Cindy! Way to power through for a new PR. You're stronger than me...I've still yet to finish one without walking. Time to rest up and get ready for another one in the fall. :)

Whoo-hoo!! Fantastic job digging deep and continue for a whole entire half marathon after you were already feeling like you were done at mile 13. I don't run with music, but I am sure that was tough for you not having your music if you run with it normally. That can totally change how you feel from a mental aspect. I am so happy that your hamstring held up and your quads decided to do more of the work so the hamstring could get you through! Congrats on your PR! I am so happy for you!

Congrats on the PR! I am sorry you you missed the BQ by only 3 minutes but gave it all. The second 1/2 of the course is not hilly but it is LONLEY. It is tough mentally! Great work Cindy!

Awesome job on your PR! Funny how we train so hard on physically being able to marathon but the mental side can be just as hard. You proved once again how strong of a person you are. Did not stop and did not give up! Great accomplishment! I hope to run one with you someday!
