Still a bit stiff after the weekend, and need to get back to going longer, these one hour blasts are great, but not the aim.

good Wallop Trail 5 5.03 mi 00:39 07:46 pace
"Go slow, enjoy the run, you don't want to go mad in those new shoes" etc etc Now the question is, do I race in the new shoes this Sunday, it's only 8 miles on The Drover's Revenge
-
If you plan to race it i wouldn't wear the new trainers, if your planning just to run it maybe.. Could it effect your A race plans?

You know.. I really don't enjoy racing any more. Running should be fun and racing just hurts, so I'm going out there to run in a new place. I think that if my legs don't hurt when I get up then that'll be a good indicator to go with the Breathos

The day that running changed.

Interesting reading Ciemon. I am building up to breaking out the VFF's again now we up to minimal minus figures and imminent spring.
I have been running in an elderly pair of Asics that are embarrassingly tired and I get the forefoot/mid foot heel thing you describe so well. That extra drop when I transition is a little rough on the flexor tendons on the inner part of my foot and they need nursing through or they begin to grate a little.
So are you throwing out the VFF's or working both together?7 days ago • Like

I have a pair of Classics, which are fine for the street, but their smooth soles give minimal traction on the mud/chalk/clay trails that I run, especially when it's wet.

I hear you Ciemon. My legs felt like clay today. Partially due to the new thickness of snow and partially due to an enforced break. Hope you warm into it soon...Hell I hope that I warm into it soon!

Just a gentle 5 to ease me back into running after a slack couple of weeks due to niggles and lurg. I have a few aches to walk out over the rest of the day, and plan to do 7 tomorrow.

Glad to see you back out there Ciemon. Do hope that your calf muscles are holding up.

VFFing on tarmac at work, waiting for a lift home. Now my left calf is the same size as my chest, might need to get a massage :)

Oh my goodness we are all coming to grief one way or another. Ibuprofen, ice and massage -and sleep in the recovery tights. Good Luck you can only hope it doesnt linger:(

The only thing stopping me running is that horrible post cold chesty thing where you feel fine but as soon as you start to do anything strenuous it feels like your trying to breath through a straw :D
Damn shame though, I wanted to get out in the snow, which lasted about 8 hours here.

Meh. Looks like this cold is shifting to my chest, breathing was more laboured than usual.

Bugger. When it's gets to the chest it may be better not to run. Whiskey toddy?

Something new and different, I made a running video http://www.runcast.tv/video/winter-trail-run

Yay that is cool! In your shadow it looks like you have the camera mounted on something that you are holding. Your arm must have been desterately sore at the end of the
run. I cant imagine how you held it so it didnt bounce jas you ran. Fantastic job i shall look out for more.21 days ago • Like

Took my G12 out, to see how it copes with running and taking video. Thought it also might keep my pace in check.

Glad to see you back Ciemon. How are the shins? Had to google G12 but i got it. Thats a hefty lump to cart round with you - do we get to see the video?

The Powershot G12 is a superb camera, and I normally run with a bit of extra kit, so it's not too bad.
The video, well, we'll see how it's come out, but head over to runcast.tv and join in the fun.22 days ago • Like

Yes I went over for a look and kind of fell in! Not sure im up to hauling a camera about with me and im jolly sure that the cutting and editing and adding music process is more than my skills will allow. However i am quite good at watching so there you have it - I found my level! I am intrigued though.

Bad luck Ciemon. I am sure a little rest will get you back on track again. Alternate with the bike and the elliptical might as well use two lots of new muscles and hate doing both equally. Gonna pm you.

Ah, the old x-trainer (as I call it, anyway). It's not that bad - boredom is the worst though, compared to trails. Hope that leg improves soon.

Great run out with Barefootape although it was only meant to be 12. My fault completely, we should have turned for home at 8.5 miles. But we both just cracked on and got it done. Most enjoyable.
