Thanks guys, I use a camel pak with electrolyte tabs for longer runs but I'd hadn't factored in the heat at all! Think I'll bring a small bottle with a tab for a little bit, have great weekends..

I have to carry my electrolyte drink with me as well, which adds to the weight. This has got me thinking about experimenting with a Saltstick so that I can drink the plentiful supply of ordinary water served at aid stations. I think I had exercise-associated hyponatremia last time I ran out of my electrolyte drink, halfway through a hot marathon, and had to drink plain water.

Hi Simon, I manned a water station on the VLM course. My friends and I figured that runners could throw it on themselves to help with heat until they get to the sports drink later at mile 23. Was also good to see some of the guys on the course. Also I hope that rehydrating at this point makes some difference. Electrolytes for me make the biggest difference. I have a litre and a half pack which doesn't affect me so much weight wise. and the pay off is well worth it.
