First 100-mile ride ever for my guy & I! Overcast, cooler morning made for good riding weather. Interesting to play w/ nutrition on these longer rides, not to mention figure out how to carry all the shit you need. Would be really helpful if someone opened a little tri shop annex somewhere out near Celina! ;-)

Great miles today in nice temps! I like a little of everything on a long ride like that. Shot blocks, a gu, a clif bar, and Fig Newtons. Fast release, slow release and real food to keep from stomach getting mad.

Nice job! I really like doing century+ rides. How did you like it?

Well, Brian, I don't love being in the saddle that long (does anyone?) and my upper back was hurting a bit toward the end but otherwise, it's more mental than anything to be out that long....more in our future, that's for sure!

Hi Chris -- I'm a friend of Jeff L.'s in Southlake. I do a lot of long rides and a few tri's. I eat every 60 minutes that I'm exercising. Minimum of 120 calories gel or bar and on 100, a PBJ while I ride.

I dont have it down, but I like cliff bars (200+ cal) clif shot bloks and uncrustable pbjs (frozen prepackaged PBJs (less messy)). pbj/clif bar 1/hr, shot bloks on the 30's. water and water with nuun (no cals in the fluids). I dont think it is ideal, but I didnt bonk and my stomach was fine (at IMTX I drank a bunch of perform and my stomach wasnt happy)

Outstanding brick today! I'm with Jeff on the Fig Newtons and Gu I also love the Honey Stinger wafers . Try mixing your gels in with your hydration( I like using Cliff or Powerbar Gels for that because they are thinner and dilute better) 4 bottles is usually my 80-112. Mile estimate.Again awesome job you guys !

Christi - Austin 70.3 on 10/28 but we've wanted to do a century ride for awhile now - a mental milestone more than anything.
