Sounds like you've got a great run in store for tomorrow. My legs are pretty sore from long run, and HILLS, yesterday. Stretch up well after yours tomorrow. There is another DM guy, Martin H doing South Downs. He's training for ultra marathon after just finishing brighton in under 3 hours. Should be a few of us. Although you guys will be way off with the fairies!!!! Great running today...and good luck tomorrow :-)

Try some light yoga instead Chris. It might help the shoulder. I suppose swimming is out of the question too. A shoulder is a tricky area. I'm sure it will sort itself out. Yes, make sure you look after that core. I try to do something before bed. There are some good stuff on YouTube. Enjoy your semi rest day :-)

Yes Gavin, I was on my forearms. Only upper body elevated sadly wouldn't be hard enough. I'm going to try taking most of the weight on my right arm and using the left as more of a stabiliser. Will keep you postedd, thanks for all the words of advice :)

I think the shoulder problems might be arthritic which could mean the joint needs clearing out a bit to give the tendon some room to move. As long as the impact on my running is minimal, I'm all for it! :) @ Steve, I thought Arnie was quite tall - I guess he is shrinking as he gets older! ;)

Chris what a terrific effort out there. It's good to tackle things we try to avoid. The more we avoid them (the hills in this case) the more we fear them or hold them as barriers in our minds. Getting through them, even slowly, removes them as "obstacles" and they no longer have the mental power over us!
-
Great post. I love the sign on the T-Shirt idea, definitely gonna follow that up :-) Quote: "...The idea of a hill is far worse than the hill itself..." when I approach a hill I always think of long haul flights, the thought of them is awful but they are actually not that painful!!

No running for me this morning. My legs wanted a rest today and I wanted an extra hour in bed!!

I think I may have found the cause of the knee problems. I have recently stopped wearing a particular pair of shoes to work and since then, it has really calmed down. Coincidence maybe but, it would be nice if that was the cause as it is easily avoided :)

Happy Sunday Chris. Fantastic pace on a long run. Wow, and a 4.30am alarm call on a Sunday is true dedication!!! I would say you're definitely going to get a sub 3.30. Maybe even better!!! A few of us Dmers are doing bournemouth mara in Oct. looks like a nice day out!!! Some local people doing it too. Kingston, Teddington, and someone in sunbury... I'm doing South Downs in June too. Must be mad; first marathon in over 15 years, and it's a tough one :( Have a great Sunday :-)))

I truly enjoyed reading this post, Chris! Your experience is exactly what I feel on race days. I wake up earlier than the alarm, etc... And when I'm in race training mode and have an important run scheduled I have the same experience.
