      That's one of the unexpected bonuses of getting out and moving in the open air. You get more familiar with your surroundings and finds views and vistas you never knew existed so close to you.

      Sounds like you've got a great run in store for tomorrow. My legs are pretty sore from long run, and HILLS, yesterday. Stretch up well after yours tomorrow. There is another DM guy, Martin H doing South Downs. He's training for ultra marathon after just finishing brighton in under 3 hours. Should be a few of us.       Try some light yoga instead Chris. It might help the shoulder. I suppose swimming is out of the question too. A shoulder is a tricky area. I'm sure it will sort itself out. Yes, make sure you look after that core. I try to do something before bed. There are some good stuff on YouTube. Enjoy your semi rest day :-)

      Yes Gavin, I was on my forearms. Only upper body elevated sadly wouldn't be hard enough. I'm going to try taking most of the weight on my right arm and using the left as more of a stabiliser. Will keep you postedd, thanks for all the words of advice :)

      I think the shoulder problems might be arthritic which could mean the joint needs clearing out a bit to give the tendon some room to move. As long as the impact on my running is minimal, I'm all for it! :) @ Steve, I thought Arnie was quite tall - I guess he is shrinking as he gets older! ;)

      Chris what a terrific effort out there. It's good to tackle things we try to avoid. The more we avoid them (the hills in this case) the more we fear them or hold them as barriers in our minds. Getting through them, even slowly, removes them as "obstacles" and they no longer have the mental power over us!

      Now that's a good run right there :) I am lucky to have a huge trail where I live. Last night we was running across fields, running in mud, jumping tree stumps, running over bricks and roof slates and attempting to look like I was running up hills lol

      I think I may have found the cause of the knee problems. I have recently stopped wearing a particular pair of shoes to work and since then, it has really calmed down. Coincidence maybe but, it would be nice if that was the cause as it is easily avoided :)

      Happy Sunday Chris. Fantastic pace on a long run. Wow, and a 4.30am alarm call on a Sunday is true dedication!!! I would say you're definitely going to get a sub 3.30. Maybe even better!!! A few of us Dmers are doing bournemouth mara in Oct. looks like a nice day out!!! Some local people doing it too. Kingston, Teddington, and someone in sunbury... I'm doing South Downs in June too.       I truly enjoyed reading this post, Chris! Your experience is exactly what I feel on race days. I wake up earlier than the alarm, etc... And when I'm in race training mode and have an important run scheduled I have the same experience. I am thrilled to see how confident you feel and can't wait to see what happens when you sign up and run a 26.2!!
