My first fartlek run. Upped the pace to 7:38 at one point, and THAT felt really good. Happily no knee or leg problems, though I did experience some friction tenderness on my left sole. Felt a bit of little torque on that side, maybe from yesterday's tweaked, one-legged squat. Hot and humid this evening -- like running through a sauna. Heart rate and lungs sure felt it (avg HR 164bpm, max HR 181bpm.)

Nice #s for pace and HR considering it was hot! Needed to read this post to help me "man up" with bf speed work. I am still putting on the minimals for speed work and not proud of it :-(

Michele, thanks! My decreased mileage from the injury rest has resulted in a slight pussification of my soles. Got a nice little blister to show for it. Diana, these past few runs I've just been adding a five minutes per run. want to get to 50-60min midweek sessions in time.
