great Lunch run on Siesta Beach 5.01 mi 00:50 09:59 pace

Barefoot fartleks on Siesta Key Beach for lunch, moving more efficiently and quickly than before. The balls of my feet are tender where the thick skin from the deep Iron Horse blisters has just rec... read more

tired Long run in the Myakka 26.3 mi 06:14 14:12 pace

The sun really sucked it out of me today, and I was glad for this run to be over. It was a beautiful day out there in the Myakka, though, and thanks to getting a bit lost, I got to see parts of the... read more

That's an impressive long run, Chris! Hope the feet start feeling better soon. New ways of running take some training to develop, and when you get tired, you always fall back on your default form...

I've always thought you had more speed in you. You're crazy fit. 9 minute miles should be a cakewalk. Keep up the good form!

It's kinda weirding me out, the more I ruminate on it. The stark contrast between pushing up off the ground while running in place, versus a purposely flat footed landing and using the hamstring to lift the heel straight up under the hip socket. I look at the stupid mileage ultras I've run, feeling like I've been beaten with a baseball bat in the final miles, and now wonder if I've unlocked some real key for me.

I have been able to do amazingly stupid things (based on my "normal" mileage) and avoid injury or heavy fatigue by focusing on both good form and efficient form. I'm sure you'll crush the next level \m/

I'm just proud of you for not falling down in the first 10 steps. I put on a pair of Nike trail runners about 2 years ago to mow the grass and I could barely walk after being zero drop, 4mm off the ground for a year. Hoka HalfHalf maybe?
