      Some time off is good; it helps to keep running in it's rightful place, that way it doesn't become work. I started running seriously ten years ago just after my mother's death from cancer and have found it to be crucial in carrying on. I'm hopeful that it too will be a helpful focus for you. Good to hear you're back.

      Hey, Sorry to hear about your dad, I have just been catching up on dailymile after starting running again in January having had a few months off after finishing a couple of long ultras last year 50's and 60's and a couple of minor injuries at the end of last year. Well done on doing your 100 miler last year, hope the training is going OK, its always tough to motivated and get back into it you completing a long run but if you can do a 100 miler i'm sure you can get back into your running.

      Your experience and muscle memory mean you don't need the same amount of time to rebuild that a newer runner would. Build up gradually and you'll be ready to kick some ass at Umstead in April!

      Thank you all for your input. Rachel, thank you. The race in April was very tough on my body as I showed up very exhausted- in fact, my feet are still giving me problems - although I went on in May to run a 24 hour run with the USATF Championship and placed 3rd in my age group! Since May, there have been tough personal issues that I have had to deal with that prevented me from running. I completed U100 in April on my terms. In 2013, I want to complete on U100 terms! 3rd time a charm????
