What a difference the race was this year compared to last. Not only was the weather almost perfect, my outlook for the race was much different. I wasn't going out to simply finish, rather I was looking to shave off 46 minutes and break the six hour barrier. I almost made it, too! A single tree stump on the back side of Mystery Mountain side-lined me for three to five minutes, where upon stepping over, I had a massive cramp in my left quadricep. I thought that maybe, just maybe I could still do it, so I finish as strongly as I could, crossing the pad at 6:02:02! That's 44 minutes better than last year! I'd say that's close enough to my goal to count! :)
I can't give enough praise to the race director and volunteers. Without them, the already brutal trail would be close to unbearable! Greg P! It was great running with you for the first half of the race! Congratulations on your excellent time (he improved 58 minutes over last year)! Congratulations to Adam S. on your 2nd place finish!
I'll be posting photos, videos, and making a Race Report soon enough!
Awesome job Chad! Congrats on the awesome PR!

Such a great improvement over last year's race! Sure helped to have cool weather the whole way. And that cramp near the end, wow, how frustrating! Like you say though, within 2 minutes of your goal is remarkably on target. Well done!
