I felt really good on the #commute #run today. Yesterday's day off gave my body enough of a break to pack away a bit of glycogen, and I could feel the difference. After climbing the hill up Saint Peter Street, I turned back over to Summit and ran down the James J Hill staircase so I could tackle the beast in the West: Ramsey Hill. No stopping! I passed up four cyclists and one walker getting up that monster and took a momentary breather before kicking up my heels and continuing on.
The one thing I really like about running along Summit is that you get a bit of an unpaved trail once you reach Lexington Parkway. I also find that once you hit LP, it's mostly downhill until you hit Fairview. I know I picked up some really good time there. Unfortunately, MyTracks never got a good satellite fix today. My text to Meghan reveals that I crossed Ayd Mill road at 18:24, and I made the Summit/Fairview intersection at 18:35. I'm positive I lost a couple of minutes at Hamline and Snelling waiting for lights, but there were less lights along Fairview than there would be going North on Snelling. Safer too.
Somewhere between LP and Snelling, I gave a high-five to another runner! It looked like a tough workout for him, but he was determined!
