    good Shakedown 9 9 mi 01:31 10:06 pace

My first run, since the left calf strain a couple Fridays ago, went relatively well. I could still "feel it", but all systems are go. Rather than test out the old legs on a trail, I took ... read more

great Commute Ride to Work 12 mi 00:55 13.1mph pace

It was a beautiful morning for a ride. I woke up late, otherwise I would have ridden the bus and swam this morning. I enjoyed myself, but had to spen a little time adjusting the rear derailer on my... read more

  4. With this calf strain, you would think I didn't run all summer. Wrong. I'm just getting old. :-P It'll be a #forcedtaper and yoga for me until race start.

  6. RUN
Commute to Work 9.06 mi 01:18 08:36 pace

My bed was so comfortable this morning, making it well nigh impossible to strap on the running shoes. The deed was done, regardless of the cramping right calf and sore trapezius muscles from waters... read more

    great Sunday waterskiing! 00:15:00

For the first time in ages, I strapped on the slalom ski and had my dad take me for a spin around the lake! My kids spent the weekend with the grandparents, and when I arrived to pick them up, Co... read more

  8. Well, it looks like my lack of motivation this weekend to get up in the morning resulted in a taper week. :) I'll be at it next week for another 38-42 miles, then taper from there. Superior in... read more

Commute to Work 9.06 mi 01:23 09:08 pace

With Vibrams, this morning's #commute #run was a little slower than yesterday's in the opposite direction. My glutes and hamstrings are complaining now, three hours after the workout; a g... read more

I find myself being far more cognizant of footfalls, trying to be quiet rather than loudly slapping my feet to the asphalt, landing mid-foot to fore-foot. You quickly adjust from heel striking due to the jarring nature hitting your heel to hard surfaces.

That work moves to your calves, hamstrings, and glutes, which is where I'd rather have the stress absorbed.

good Commute Home 9.14 mi 01:20 08:42 pace

The weather couldn't have been better for the #run home, and I felt pretty strong the whole way, running up hills I would normally walk. The first half was a speedy one, with a general slowdow... read more

good Early Afton Loop 15.07 mi 02:52 11:24 pace

great Ice Cream Run (Commute Home) 9 mi 01:27 09:43 pace

A gorgeous morning for a run, and with a bit more sleep last night I didn't feel as dead to the world as I might have; less zombie, more sleep-runner.
