      Great post Cecil, sounds like you need to find a race somewhere in the future.. Book it, find a new training plan and start a core streak. All the above keep me focused and pushing forwards with an aim of getting faster. When I started my core streak I also quit eating bread (white & brown) after 3 weeks I could see a difference, after 5 weeks my family noticed a difference & after 8 weeks everybody could see a marked improvement in my body. Good luck.. You can do it.
