Easy 8 today, just enough to give the Merrell Bare Access 2 a proper first look. My legs felt great today with the typical pace bump that happens the day immediately following a workout.

The shoes were also enjoyable. Firm, but responsive. They feel like they would be too firm when just standing around, but once running they have enough flexibility to suit my tastes. I made sure to hit a mix of pavement, gravel, grass, trail, and loose dirt. Although these shoes are made for the road, I liked them most on packed trails. I wouldn't take them out for trail runs on a wet day, however, as I'm sure they'd slide all over the place with the flat outsole. Honestly, I think some people might like them as a racing flat. We'll see how they perform over the course of a few hundred training miles...

    There's a Bare Access 2? I just got the Bare Access 1 a few weeks ago-- hate that... Interesting comment about using them as a racing flat. I like running in them generally and coincidentally wore them to the track today to test them out as a racing flat (I have a 10k this weekend) and ended up deciding I need to go and get another pair of racing flats (somehow I ripped a giant hole down the side of the upper of my last flats on a tempo run a couple of weeks ago and now they're pretty much unusable).
