We were all over the place at Moses Cone today. Ran with Peyton for the first 13 miles...climbed up to the Manor, then we decided to go all the way up Flat Top (up to 4500+ feet). It was really cool up there this morning; very foggy and cold enough at higher elevation that the fog was forming an ice layer on some trees.

We dropped back down and went the long way to the Lake, then did a few strides before Peyton was done at 13-ish. I went for another 8 on my own back up through the Manor-->Maze loop.

Garmin was twitchy - I lost signal a couple of times in dense fog (a first), and I had it stopped by accident for .75 miles (note the straight line on the map).

This was my longest run to date in the Innov-8's. Felt great the whole way, and my feet are getting accustomed to the low midsole profile and bigtime flexibility.

Good slow grind climbing today...hopefully good prep for the legs for HAT.

79 miles this week and no doubles with this looong climbing run to close it off. Amazing week and solid training Caleb. Do you wear a fuel belt for a run like this or do you have access to public water along the way?

Jim: I fuel pretty light (I'm small, it's cold, and I tend to think that people eat and drink too much in general on long runs...). So, today I had 2 gels (actually 1 more than normal as I am trying to get myself used to more on my stomach before the ultra), and I had a couple of gulps of electrolyte drink (stashed at the car) around mile 12. I hydrate well before, and I really re-fuel after.

You are going to kill the HAT ... It's cold here too but I am anything but small and sweat profusely so I may be one of those runners who does take in more fluid then needed on long runs but more power to you for being so efficient that you can fuel and hydrate like you do.

Thanks, Jim. And fueling is totally about finding what works for the individual runner. What works for me definitely wouldn't work for most. Since you know what suits your body, don't change it up!
