More on returning to running after some time off. Once you get yourself back to regular running, it's time to step it up a bit. But make sure you're ready, so you don't backslide.

This is a great series Caleb, it's been good for me to read through them considering where I'm at in the comeback process. Thanks!

I'm thinking this applies to post-marathon running too even if no extended time off was taken. At least that's how I feel right now.

Let's call this the warm-up before some miles (easy ones) with Tim M. later.
Starting over with the running? You will be tempted to look back at all the time missed and do more to make up for the lost time. Good idea or bad?

Starting over after my stress fracture has been one of the most humbling and frustrating, patience building things I've ever done. But I know that if I try to push ahead and force it, I will just set myself up for disappointment and failure.

I struggled with this a lot as I first started running. Thanks for the advice, Coach!

I guarantee that a major setback will occur in everyone's running career. The first thing to do when that happens is to stop freaking out about a normal part of being a runner.

You are covering a lot of different roads in my neighborhood Caleb ... if you are homesick for a hillier route hit Tatnic Road. Up in Wells there are trails in Laudholm Farm and there is a bridle path that runs parallel to the river. A longer stretch by the ocean is had if you run up rt. 1 to Bourne and hit Ocean Ave and Webhannet Drive - you can also access this at low tide via the Ogunquit Beach and a footbridge avoiding a lot of Rt 1 ... good to see you enjoying Maine.
