Butt is still broken even after 4 days off. I think it's more of a structural/alignment issue and weak butt and legs. Might have to even further reduce my mileage and work on the weak spots, but I can't be taking too many days off. I'm barely sane anymore after so much time off. Grrrr. Might do Yoga for Broken Butts later.

    Broken butts suck. I broke my tailbone a year ago. It still bothers me.

    You run in Newton's right? Ever think they could be putting too much strain on your butt and back or your legs? I personally think they unnaturally pitch you forward but what do I know.

    Sorry to hear Bryan. Have you ever gotten A.R.T. therapy done? It seemed to really help with the muscle issues I was having over the fall.

    @Heather: I haven't run in Newtons in many months. Been running in Brooks a lot. / @Andy: I keep saying I'll try A.R.T. whenever I have issues but I never get around to it because the problem never really gets too bad and usually goes away with lower miles and targeted stretching and strengthening. Might have to really give it a shot this time, though.

    You should prob see someone. ART will help or a really serious massage. My butt is often sore and got a massage at a PT place with a groupon and he said its just a lot of scar tissue which he painfully worked out. Feels better now. Keep stretching, rolling, a tennis ball...

    I second (or 4th at this point?) the ART suggestion. Butt massage. LA Sports Massage on Washington & Redwood. They know my ass well there. It's worth the $$ and time.

    I'm sorry your butt is still broken, but strength work along with some tissue work will help a lot. Don't get discouraged. We all have issues from time to time. Good luck.

    Booo! Maybe a good rolling and butt massage will help? Could the Brooks be the problem? You have strong legs so I don't see how that's the issue.

    I hear ya! I had some butt issues when I used to do ballet - resulted in all sorts of problems with my leg and foot. Left gluteal muscle was just weak. It was recommended that I do some muscle strengthening on that area....
