It kind of bums me out to have a lower mileage week than what I wanted (25+) to maintain. I know it was smart as my knee needed the rest and I had to make sure I'd be in top shape for the relay, but I can't help but to wish it wasn't blistering hot outside (8pm and still 91) so I could get in a nice slow one. Darn the mind of a runner!

Taking care of the knee is the wise choice. I'm not happy with my mileage either - I'm 19 miles less than what I had planned. But, my knees will (better be) happy about that! Hopefully yours is too.

@Michael, it's true, my knee is feeling better. I had doubts on how I'd do a couple times this weekend as it ached quite a bit a few times, but I had no troubles or pain when running. An Ibuprofen here and there helped too. I'm glad you are being smart too. Patriciarae is totally right, it's about quality and fun. I feel fine to run right now but would I enjoy sweating in the heat? Nope. I'll save my energy to kick the zero tomorrow ;)

I know! It was still 97 at 7 p.m. here when I took Liam to the park. (Where he ate dirt and gravel like a champ -- YAY, Toddlerhood!). I only got two miles in on the gym treadmill today. 17 miles for the week *pout*

@Shaindel, that is sweltering! The heat plus trying to find juggle being a mom makes 17 miles still a great week! I am not entirely sure how I'd make the mileage I want to accomplish if I had to take in consideration a little one around. Especially if he had a fondness for dirt and gravel, haha! I saw someone pushing a DOUBLE stroller today in the heat and gave her a huge cheer in my head but damn, I just don't think I could handle that!!

@Brie, Oh, we'll see how I'm going during the school-year. Since I'm a professor on summer break and Jared's a stay-at-home dad, it's like Liam has two stay at home parents. During the school year, I HOPE I can make myself get up early enough to run like this. A DOUBLE stroller? Yikes!

Hang in there Brie...on a perfect day it will all come together...with great weather conditions and well rested legs to take on those mileages. Enjoy the fall back weeks and the rest days! :0)

Thanks Nic! I looked at my schedule today and realized it was also week 12 of my training which is a cut-back week! I have ignored the other 2 cut back weeks but this time I think I may try and take the advice of my coach and go a little easier and not stress about it. (Easy to do in such heat!!) I also know on Saturday I'm getting somewhere around 15 miles in!
