There aren't any flats in St. George. Just hills and HILLS. I rode the first 50 miles with Melissa M. and Darrell. Melissa did awesome. The last 30 included a huge climb up to Veyo and a quick ... read more

Now you know what it's like to train here! Doesn't it stink to see your mph drop?

Yes. That is the truth. I have such a hard time on the hills. This year I am going to focus on climbing. Someday I will be fast like you!

    good Wolverine 32.9 mi 01:40 19.8mph pace

Rode out to Wolverine solo. Rode home with 3 fellow Eagle Rock Cycler's. It felt like a late spring ride with the sun, warm weather (relatively), and clear roads.

  10. I am helping some of the young men at my church group prepare for a 206 miles bike ride over 3 days next summer. Any ideas on how to get them trained for such an adventure?

Nothing beats building up steady miles in the bank. Pace doesn't seem to matter much, but the miles do.

Is this road or MTB? As with everyone else miles in the saddle are key. Be sure to set some small goals for small distances. When they see they can easily do 25 - 50 miles in a day then they will know the 206 miles is achievable. Is this the LOTOJA route? Just curious.
