I'm not surprised at all by the loose gravel effect. While wearing a heart rate monitor and running in loose sand when I lived in Santa Monica, I watched my heart rate go from about 145 BPM when running in hardpacked sand along the water to 175 BPM shortly after I crossed into the soft sand! Good job out there

Sand would be tough!! The gravel roads are slowly becoming hard with marbles on top...tough to run in

I ran a race once that was on gravel trails in a park. Not sure why, but the park maintenance for some reason laid fresh gravel the day before. The trails had been packed earth so I brought my minimalist shoes with 3mm thick soles. Not a happy race.

Your distance is getting longer and longer. Time for a half or full marathon lady. You're doing great.
