I wore my HR monitor for my 1 hour afternoon nap today. Conditions of testing were: 1 cup of coffee before my nap and noise from the kids playing computer games in the study. Once I settled into deep rest, my HR settled in at around 50 - 51 BPM but twice it dropped to 49 and once as low as 48! Conclusion? I'll leave my resting HR at 51 for my HR zone calculations.

That's a pretty good resting heart rate Heather! I'll have to give this ago again :)

According to HR charts, this puts me in the excellent category. And this was after a coffee (which supposedly raises your HR).

Wow, great idea! I always take it just after i've woken up but while i'm still horizontal in bed. But i'm never sure how accurate it is (have to turn over and twist a bit to get in to the right position, and does waking up itself bump up the HR a little?).

Darren, I think that waking up and being alert enough to put on the HR monitor would put your HR up. If nothing else, it is a great excuse for a nana nap!
