      Travis...yes...I can see eventually transitioning out of the 5k Mud Runs. Races like Spartan & Tough Mudder will still be on my list, more so Spartan...as some of their races are not so much about mud but endurance in general (especially their "Beast") - THAT'S the kind of thing that will keep interest to me. As for trail races, starting to keep track of what's local (for now) & when. I'm doing my first in Nov. called the "Rockledge Rumble"...the 15k is almost sold out, but they have a 30k & 50k.

      Just to add to the above, I know a lot of ultra runners who started with that one as their first and they say it's a good one to start with because it's well marked & well organized and in a good time of year. It's right here in Grapevine too! Some of these runners are now on to 50k & 100k's...it's like, yea...I can see how one can be addicted to the trails. Like you say, the distractions of nature make it fun and negotiating the trails is like an obstacle course in itself! Sorry to ramble....

    Did the 4 mile loop, just walked or hiked it today, wanted to stretch the muscles some, the lunges from yesterday had my butt and hammy's very sore! nice cool down exercise to end the week!
