Here at our little spot on the globe (34.2239694,-84.2436848), today was the earliest sunrise of the year at 6:23AM. I got out early and took advantage of it, because now the sun begins to rise about a minute later each day until Jan 9, 2019, when it will greet us at 7:43AM. The latest sunset here will be at 8:52PM on June 30.

Interesting, I had thought that sunrise was at a civilized hour today. Oh well ... it is the land of dark mornings here for better or worse. Nice run Bill!

We have 16 hours 14 minutes of visible light in my neighborhood today. Thanks for the reminder of the late sunrise that January brings. Nice miles this morning, Bill

Hm, I thought earliest sunrise happens on Spring's solstice 🤔 But ok, now I know. Thanks Bill. Nice run.

Drago, the earliest sunrise and latest sunset only occur on the solstice if you happen to live on the equator. For the rest of us, the timing of those events depends on your location on the globe.

Hashi, we have 14 hours and 20 minutes of sunlight today - the sun appears to be much higher in the sky (ie, reaches farther north at noon) up your way than it does here, accounting for the extra 2 hours of daylight you're getting. Keep going north and eventually that amount of daylight reaches 24 hours (at the Arctic Circle on June 21).

I personally love the early mornings, not just for the opportunity of an earlier run with light, but because I'm usually up well before dawn, feeling weird because it's so dark out still. In June, it's like the world makes me normal
