      I don't bother hydrating for an early morning run, other than maybe a few sips of water before going out the door. But then, I'm not much of a hydrater anyway (I never take anything on any run shorter than 15 miles, though that may change in the summer).

      I'm a first thing in the morning runner. Right out of bed and out the door. For shorter runs, I don't eat or drink first. For longer runs, I may eat a banana and drink a glass of sports drink first. Instead of hydrating at 5 AM for a 6AM run, it's better to hydrate the day before, drinking more during the day before and evening right up to bedtime. You may be up several times during the night, but no need to get up early! When I run long and it's warm, I carry a bottle with me.

      Thanks Vern. Ran this am and had no problems. Hydrated real well yesterday (think that helped). Thanks for the advice!
