good new Adrenalines run 5 mi 00:47 09:28 pace
Tried on my last pair of new shoes, the Brooks GTS Adrenalines. Very comfortable, cushioned run, although oddly not very comfortable to walk in. Even though they're a half size large, as usu... read more

An ultrarunner friend recommended these shoes to me, so I tried them out with my 20% coupon from RRS. Still not sure about them...they're heavier, the heel feels too high, and they're a ... read more

Almost over the cold that won't die. Went in a little late to work, which was a good call, because the run definitely improved my attitude. I was ready to go head to head with a certain arro... read more

good spring virus recovery run 3 mi 00:28 09:17 pace

Almost missed this! Great race, under 2hours, glad you enjoyed it... I didn't make it to the race, my cousin who was supposed to meet at 8am for a ride ended up showing up at 8:40am! Man, latinos, when are they going to learn to be on time? :)

good pre-work easy miles 4 mi 00:38 09:31 pace
A little pre-race achiness this morning, as if my body knows I'm going to haul it to DC soon. Must focus on getting more sleep somehow. My usual 6 hours isn't cutting it.

Yes, 7 am. I know, don't remind me. Hardly worth going to bed, but I'll have my French press with me, and espresso gels. :) I may still be running even when you wake up. Lots of walkers in this race.

alright intervals 5 mi 00:45 08:54 pace
10 x 400's at about 8 min. pace with rest intervals at 10 min. pace. Not much of a taper in this program. A FB friend posted an irritating John Kiefer article that running is bad for women, ... read more

Ridiculous. I think if you're a woman who gains weight after you start running, it's because you're just not eating right. I have hypothyroidism & did not start running until long after it was diagnosed - and I would wonder if the meds I took for endometriosis didn't have something to do with it. Anyway, fantastic intervals!

I know! I am also mildly hypo (subclinical), like many middle-aged women, and I suspect it is widely underdiagnosed, since a thyroid panel is not routinely ordered unless a patient complains of symptoms. Endocrinologists also complain that the Quest norms for elevated TSH are way off. I did learn some interesting and more credible points about hypothyroidism and running in this article: http://www.runnersworld.com/health/how-does-endurance-training-affect-your-thyroid-and-vice-versa

Nice workout! I'm ready to try something other than Adrenalines but afraid of the whole fit factor...

@Vira: Yes, that's my problem too. The Adrenalines are so comfortable. Only the Kinvaras work better for me, but not for runs > 13.1.
