I have had lower back pain since around 2006ish. It is caused from the time I spent in the military jumping out of planes and a lot of road marching carrying heavy rucks. about week. Then after my 14 mile run two Sunday's ago, the pain came back again consistently and hasn't left. It hurts to do anything now. My fear is I won't ever be the same and I won't be able to run very well or for long distances any more. I started some physical therapy yesterday and going to take it easy for a little while hoping the pain and inflammation will subside.

Rest is very important; you can do one week or pay for it the rest of your life...I'll take the week any time! But I totally understand what you feel. Best of luck!! And enjoy the time you are taking off with other fun things that won't put pressure on your back. :-)
