Do at least a half-marathon this year. Get through an ironman swim (3.8 k). Have a hell of a lot of fun on the road bike. Role model for my son David, 10.

  1. FIT
    good Home

Finally decided to make some use of the bitsy fitness stuff I have at home (out of sight out of mind, locked in a box on the verandah). Jump rope: 5 x 100, push-ups on rotating handles: 2 x 10 (dam... read more

    good Centenary 3000 m 01:15 40:14 pace

    So-so. Hungry again!

  3. RUN
    good Treadmill 10 km 01:00 09:39 pace

Broke up into shorter segments, 1-2 k at a time. Ran in the Vibrams and only felt my calves just at the end. Nice with aircon and DVD on ("Chasing Amy").

Story Bridge Loop 31 km 01:22 14.1mph pace

Commute plus--big storms forecast for thus afternoon so decided to get my workout done before work. Pace a bit slow: shared bikeways, but a fun ride. Will upload pictures.

  7. swim
    good Centenary 4000 m 01:45 42:14 pace

Fair swim--got through 4 k although maybe still tired from yesterday's ride. Might have been better to eat something before going.

Redcliffe is so beautiful that I really wanted to push my ride all the way north. There's a 3 k bridge connecting the peninsula to points south--the one place I really hit speed. It was a hot day, but making your own breeze on the bike is a great way to go.

    alright Centenary Pool 3000 m 01:30 48:16 pace

So-so. Crowded lane, swimmers with mismatched speeds. Probably still worth it to shake off a day with too much aggro (mainly via the ex).

Yeah--it's great for mood management too. Buzzed now--just put in my application for the 2.5 k open water swim at Tangalooma resort March 13th, and worked out that I can do the 2.0 k and 3.8 k swims coming up in April and May as well. Not easy as a newly single mum without a car, but I'm putting the pieces in place.

  13. RUN
alright UQ riverside trails 13 km 01:17 09:31 pace

Not a great run. Very slow pace (admittedly on wet trails), then at 13 k my gut stopped cooperating, so I didn't complete the planned 15 k.

    great 28.76 km 01:30 11.9mph pace

Thanks guys--I swear I would have only done one loop of the mountain without my cheerleaders. Decided to get in a ride before the rain arrives, rather than running this evening.

    Windtrainer 20 km 01:20 9.3mph pace

3 x 20 min standing climbs (while watching Alpe d'Huez time trial from 2004 TdF 8). Pleased to fit that in before heading out for a haircut. I'll count that as 20 k.

  16. swim
    alright Centenary Pool 3000 m 01:10 37:33 pace

Not a lot of oomph after my morning ride--filled in with a lot of breast stroke between freestyle sets. Or maybe there were just no cute guys in my lane 8).

Just riding to work, with a detour. Love the wind! Had the first service on my new Merida Juliet and it's awesome! Much better than being stuck on the windtrainer watching old TdF stages.

Road. Had been riding a hybrid before, but now I use that just to tow the tag-along, or if I don't want to take the high-value bike out of the house.

Hey there! Not around all that much since I'm sidelined (now double sidelined with this blasted wheezing) but good to see you here - it's a great, supportive community! If you want, I'll post a note to my friends to get anyone who's interested to "friend" you - but that's up to you!
