    First mile I had a 8 min/mile pace!!! Then the run back to the finish was so windy! It took my breath away, and slowed me down. Good race still :)

      How old are your shoes- where did you purchase them? Peak Performance- bring in your old ones and let them offer suggestions. There are a few stretches that can help- but not wipe out the soreness. You have to be careful they do not turn into full blown shin splints. I have had them and run through the soreness every year. My shins have been sore to the touch for more than 15 years- just something I have gotten used to. Let me know how it goes- rest- ice- ibuprofen...runners elixir.

      I got my shoes last June at Peak Performance. Logged about 100 miles on them is all. I have orthotics in them as well. Maybe I am not stretching right??

      Shins are a tricky thing to stretch- nothing really stretches them. Shins splints are the bone actually fragmenting and the sharp edges are what you feel. Ice helps a lot and it may be the orthos in the shoes. I had them for over pronating, but they caused probs in other areas. They were custom for one type of shoe. Take them all in to Peak and see what they suggest- many new shoes are built for whatever ails you now.
