Mixed feelings on this one. Realistically after running my biggest week ever I couldn't expect to be super spry, but I was hoping to give it a better go today. Caleb recommended I treat this as a training run, unless I felt really good, then do what I needed to do. I decided to see how the first couple miles felt and decide from there. The first few felt great and I was having a hard time keeping my self prescribed 6:30 pace in check. Then after the rollers on the course I just wasn't feeling right. I'm not sure if I was just afraid of blowing up before the end, but I just wasn't feeling as relaxed as I hoped. I ended up slowing a bit and running with another person in our club whose positivity helped me from being a grump. I was able to speed up in the last couple miles again so I definitely wasn't out of gas. I think my head wasn't there today. As a plus I kept it at or below marathon pace so it was a good training run. Left leg is still a bit wonky. Pain seems to have gone away but gets stiff really easy. Need to figure it out.

All things considered, this is a great half. Coming off your biggest mileage work and putting in hard work, On tired legs, this is a monster run. Great race, Andy!

First of all, I love the word "spry". And second of all, I'd lick my peely toe for a race pace like that ANY day! Way to listen to your body, Andy. You will thank you later.
