The temps dropped 25 degrees from the heat index of one billion degrees from the last few days. A lovely breeze. It was delightful. Half mile warm up, then this.

Plan was to run as slow as I could. I've tried this many times before. Never worked. But, it was such a nice night. Mother nature was gently kissing my forehead (and ass) as I ran. It helped.

There was no crying. Ok, maybe a tear or two. But, good ones. I ran this for Suzi S. whom I was telling that she could get through a 15k the next day, completely untrained. How could I say this, believe this, without DOING it. So, I tried. Only came up short because darkness got me in the woods.

I stopped a few times. To breath. To stretch. To hydrate. To not quit. But, no longer than 15 seconds. These were not quit breaks. They were recharge breaks. I walked a few steps. But, only a few.

At one stretch stop a man cruised by running with his wife along on her bike. We exchanged smiles and hellos. Two miles later they came up upon me on their way back. This time the wife slowed down behind her husband. As we passed she looked directly at me. Staring at me. She stuck out her arm as far as she could. Sticking her thumb in the air. Waving it in my face. Smiling. Awesomesauce. Thank you. I simply LOVE these forms of encouragement. From places you don't expect. From people you don't expect.

My UBHA hurt. A lot. A lot a lot. But, oh well. I told it to stfu.

Been awhile since I had been running. Because of the heat. It honestly sucks the life out of me and gives me horrible exercise induced asthma that messes with my body and soul. I simply cannot do it. You that do amaze me. I just can't "do it". I physically cannot.

So, it cooled. I went. I ran 7 miles. My longest since I broke 11 months ago.

I'm not back. Far from it. But, I'm not dead either.

Way to go and glad your not dead! I thought that story was going to come out different when the wife stuck out her arm. I was thinking the middle finger was coming up.
