Decided to try something new and queued up my yoga music for my run. I felt like I was introducing my two loves to each other! It was a bit awkward at first...my legs were confused and had trouble with the slower pace. My lungs, on the other hand, knew how to breathe to this music and my endurance was much improved from my last run. In fact, I was 4 miles in before I realized I hadn't even slowed for a walk interval. Very different run than my normal Eminem or Kanye fueled effort, but no less enjoyable. Ran the whole time and wished I could have gone longer but my foot was barking at me by the end. Met a new friend at the end of my run...will post some pics in a minute!

I did the same thing today Amy! Took my ipod along on the bike and started listening to my hip hop filled running playlist, which did not work. Switched to Ellie Goulding, much better! I was also thinking when I start running again it might be nice to have some more mellow tunes....

I've found as I've "grown" as a runner that the music I need to power my runs, or not power as it might be, has changed and the heavy beat and cadence I once needed I no longer have to rely on as much. Sometimes it's more about finding my Zen and happy place than it is pounding the ground. Sounds like a successful experiment and one that you may need to continue! Awesome run, Amy!

Amy, I love running to yoga/meditation music too! Try Peter Gabriel 'Passion' album sometime, also 'Om yoga mix 2' by Cyndi Lee is a great one to run to!
