RUN
great Still looking pretty good... 2.01 mi 00:20 09:44 pace
Another successful 2-miler. Don't want to push it too much, so I'll try and increase again next week. Went out really early this morning (4am) because my husband joined me. Since his s... read more

Yeah, Lanier, waking up at 4am was tough and I definitely don't do it on the regular, lol...I didn't get to bed until around 11:30ish, so I feel you with being tired!
And Tiffany, it definitely is fun! I don't get to very often because he has a few issues that make it hard for him, so I can sympathize with you. And thanks for the well wishes! I'm hoping to do 2.5 miles as my 'long' run (lol) next week.

great Getting better 1.52 mi 00:14:28 09:32 pace
Took it a little slower today since I've lost a little endurance with being sidelined and what not. ITB was only rubbing a little bit when I stopped...again, probably could've kept going... read more

good Wow, where'd my endurance go?! 1 mi 00:08:48 08:47 pace
It is unbelievable how quickly the body can lose its fitness when you're sidelined with an injury. I was so tired after running a mile at this pace after not really being able to run at all f... read more

Oh yeah, tons of fun! Energy-wise, I felt horrendous, lol. No ITB pain was a good trade-off, though! But if I just dial it down on speed, I should be ok. I hope it doesn't take too long to get my short run pace back!

My new Newton Distance U. I decided to try them to see what the big deal was and now I understand. Haven't been able to run far in them due to the dreaded ITBS, but from the little bit I was... read more

I know, it's a difficult task to find a few pairs that are just right! I still have to try out running in my Vibrams. I've walked in them quite a bit. But I want to wait until I'm completely rid of the IT band issues before I take on that challenge, lol. The Newtons are really nice, though. From my experience with them so far, I think I may become a repeat customer!

I haven't been able to find the forums either, for months! I guess they removed it? I got a lot of good info off there.

Yeah, the link is gone, but if you just type www.dailymile.com/forums in your browser, it shows up. It still exists, so I wonder if it's an unintentional mess-up by whoever last updated the website. But you can still post and use it like normal. It is really weird, though.

injured Well, so much for that... 2.8 mi 00:26 09:16 pace

Scaling back is a good idea. You definitely don't want to have to drop out if your races. I don't know if you want to look in to seeing a physical therapist or not. I've had friends that have been able to find out why their having ITBS, then doing exercises to help. I know their expensive, but it might be worth looking into. Just my two cents :-)

Yeah, I am a little reluctant to part with the $ for therapy. I caught the problem early, though so I think I'll be okay. I've found lots of hip stabilizer muscle exercises (those muscles being weak seems to be the main cause from what I've read) and have been doing those, along with stretching, foam rolling and icing. I've felt good the last few days since resting. I plan on waiting until Wednesday to try again.

Yes, that's definitely a motto I live by as well. I felt better by afternoon yesterday and today I don't have any pain, either. So hopefully tomorrow morning, it won't just start hurting again when I run. I'm thinking I'll probably be okay because I've been so careful throughout my training. I haven't overtrained at all so I think it might have just been a niggle.

Nope, no pain at all! Thank God! I am hoping to be back up to a more normal weekly pace soon, and then I plan on starting to train for my half in October!
