Short Weekly Long Run - 5 weeks until 1st Marathon.
Stayed at my parents place Friday night as it was closer to work after finishing late and Dad needed some help around the house. So I had packed my bag Thursday.

Left Dads around 6.30am, in the dark. Temperature was 2.7C!!!!! It was ffffing freezing. I'll admit debating going back to a nice warm bed but thought i have been in worse situations in my life and I'm no softc#ck.
Had on my 2XU compression tights, a compression vest, a Nike lightweight long sleeve running top, a skull cap under my running hat, and a thin pair of running gloves (may need to get a warmer pair), and my Nathan Running Hydration pack. I was so damn cold that it did cross my mind after 1km to turn around, but again mental toughness is what will get me over that Marathon Finish line. Also I have had a bastard of a week at work and really needed this run. Ran harder and faster than I should have, but as some will understand, the aches and the pain when it comes can bring a sense calmness with it.
One more long run next Saturday then 4 weeks of tapering down, in that time doing the Suncorp Bank Harbour 10km race. Will try to crack 50minutes but will see what happens

Good for you! If you can run in those cold disgusting conditions, you can do the final 7 km of the marathon. (first 35 are comparably easier).

I heard there are 2 races Ina 'thon, 1-35 km, and then 36-42. Yor long, cold, hard run will be great for the second part!

    Hi-five:

Early cold mornings is essential training for the m7 marathon anyway. Normally the start line is 0-3 degrees C, so you will be conditioned well mate. Good job.

Man, I was thinking about relaying the M7 marathon, except I'm overseas. If it is that cold at the start I don't mind missing it, and running in the North American heat instead. O-3 degrees!! Is there frost?

Melz - The grass was all white and I could not feel my face until about 8km. Eyes were watering, nose was dripping and with my breathing problems, the cold, damp air was so hard to breath it gave my lungs a good workout.
Do you need someone to carry your bags or be an assistant overseas?

Nice job today! I'm so excited for your marathon, can't wait to hear about that. You're doing such a great job with all these workouts in the early morning cold. But I bet your parents think you are crazy!
