Picked up a treadmill tonight. Eagle River doesn't keep up with their trail system (and sidewalks) like Anchorage. So I've been stuck at home unable to run. Tonight we fixed that. I picked up a Nordic Track on craigs list for a fraction of the cost of a new one. Downloaded the manual, fixed the belt tracking to one side issue, fixed the too tight belt issue and now it's tweaked up and ready for me. Will take it on the first run tomorrow. Set it up in the garage (thermostat set to 40 degrees) absolute perfect conditions. I could NOT in any way be happier.

    I have a new appreciation for my treamill now that I figured out how to get Netflix on my phone and iPad! I also like it for intervals since I'm unlikely to ever go to the local track or know what to do there if I did! BTW....Running the Golden Years said an episode is on the way....could it be so??? Merry Christmas!

    w00t! Easy to dress for a run under those conditions. No gusts of wind to contend with and you can program in hills. Now to put a flat panel in front of it with a video of your favorite game or your favorite trail to help with the boredom. But it sure beats slip-sliding on ice. A winter on the treadmill beats one in rehab because of a fall...

    Nearly as good as a flatpanel is my 10 inch tablet. I put movies/TV on it and there's a holder for it on the TM.

    Glad you got the TM Ted. That should disappoint a lot of moose. My son has a NordicTrac, it's a great machine.

    You are younger than I am and your eyes can focus on a 10 in FP. The problem I had at the Y with such displays is that they were mounted low and caused me to drop my head. The TVs were mounted too high. i ended up plugging in some tunes and finding a sign on the wall at the right height and focusing there. Boring... Now, if you can adjust the tablet to the correct height, that would be awesome... I have been amazed how little things like this compromise my form... Best wishes with your new treadmill.
