alright Garage, Eeagle River, Alaska 4.71 mi 00:45 09:31 pace
TM started overheating and would shut down every 5 minutes after mile 4. So I did the only thing an electronics tech knows to do. Dremeled a hole above the motor and installed a 120mm computer fan ... read more

You crack me up! Great solution to the problem! Now as long as the glue doesn't overheat and catch on fire...

Eoin I'm fully prepared to find a good 12V source on the TM. I used the computer pwr supply because I knew I could throw it together fast.

First run on the new (used) treadmill. Watched a few TV shows on my tablet. Went great :) No moose, ice, etc... Although it is snowing outside :) Merry christmas everybody!

Great setup, Ted. I told a couple of friends about your plan to setup in the garage after I read your post yesterday. Everybody loves the idea (even though we are "lightweights" from Indiana)!

Picked up a treadmill tonight. Eagle River doesn't keep up with their trail system (and sidewalks) like Anchorage. So I've been stuck at home unable to run. Tonight we fixed that. I picke... read more

I have a new appreciation for my treamill now that I figured out how to get Netflix on my phone and iPad! I also like it for intervals since I'm unlikely to ever go to the local track or know what to do there if I did! BTW....Running the Golden Years said an episode is on the way....could it be so??? Merry Christmas!

Glad you got the TM Ted. That should disappoint a lot of moose. My son has a NordicTrac, it's a great machine.

You are younger than I am and your eyes can focus on a 10 in FP. The problem I had at the Y with such displays is that they were mounted low and caused me to drop my head. The TVs were mounted too high. i ended up plugging in some tunes and finding a sign on the wall at the right height and focusing there. Boring... Now, if you can adjust the tablet to the correct height, that would be awesome... I have been amazed how little things like this compromise my form... Best wishes with your new treadmill.

blah Eagle River, AK 6.01 mi 00:58 09:41 pace
Craptastic run. 3-4 inches of snow covering an inch of ice makes it nearly impossible out there. Teh suk.

blah Local ice skating rink.... 1.92 mi 00:19 10:02 pace
Yea was like an ice skating rink. Only with obstacles. Ice jutting out large and small. Pointy and ankle breaking round. Planned for a lot farther. Took the safe route (re:wimpy) and turned around ... read more

Very wise decision. With the temp hovering at freezing, the ice has a thin film of water decreasing the coefficient of friction.

great Eagle River, Alaska 6.52 mi 01:01 09:23 pace
Much better run today. Found a descent route which will allow me to extend the distance that I need. Pretty gnarly elevation gain/loss. Will be something to get used to I spose.
-
Nice run Ted. Definitely harder to find a flat route out in Eagle River. It will be good training! I'm thinking of doing some runs up Baldy next summer from my folks' house (bottom of Skyline).

Crap run. Ran till my plowed path ended in road plow vomit. Gonna go out tomorrow in the daylight (it was dark here by 4pm and hard to see) and try a few different paths/sidewalks.

Hmmmm Road plow vomit. There's a word picture for you. Hope you get it in tomorrow.

Good call - if the US ski team won't run races below -5, you know that it is a serious challenge to be out there in those temps.

My wife and I were just talking about how much we hated the 10 degree drop into the 20's today. Your "eyelashcycles" comment really make me feel like a lightweight. I will get outside tomorrow. Take care of yourself, Ted and thanks for the motivation.
